Welcome to our Flimpblog. Yes we know that "flimp" is a strange name – some people love it and some people hate it, which is always good if you are a building a brand. I tend to get along better with the people who love the name. No – it’s not the name of my dog or first born child. It stands for Flash Interactive Marketing Platform and was developed by our brilliant CTO Richard DiBona who keeps amazing us with his programming genius. Anyhow – our mission is singular – to simplify the use and deployment of rich media (namely flash) for marketing and communications professionals – and to eliminate the need for programming and IT support so we can all do our jobs faster and better and with less anxiety. So if you find yourself thinking about using audiovisual web content or marketing, check out FLIMP – its definitely the future of rich media marketing and communications.
OK – a little bit about my business background. I’m the CEO and founder of Flimp Media, a rich media marketing and analytics technology company located in Hopkinton, Mass – overlooking the start of the Boston Marathon. For better or worse I am a serial entrepreneur with a pretty good track record of starting and building successful technology companies pioneering new products and markets. My first biotech company called Roots was sold to Novo Nordisk in 2003, a huge Danish corporation. My next venture called PHC (Plant Health Care) pioneered the world market for mycorrhizal fungi (what!!??). PHC is publicly traded on the London AIM stock exchange. Among other things we developed new mine land reclamation methods and technologies for reforesting and revegetating abandoned mine lands. After PHC I relaunched the Environmental News Network (ENN.com) an online publisher of environmental news and multimedia programming which got me into the Internet technology space. While running ENN, I saw the emerging market opportunity for developing technologies to simplify rich media content creation, distribution and tracking and launched Flimp Media in early 2006. We developed and completed the FLIMP Rich Media platform in late 2007 and launched it early this year as a software as a service application.
